In the morning all the families that are Haitian eat pumpkin soup. They eat cake, home made food and home made drinks.
Kids visit their neighbors to wish them a happy new year. The new year day is the best day for Haitian children. In the afternoon most people go to their park of their city and listen to bands playing music.
There is some money on the top of a wax pole. The first one to get to the top gets all the money. A lot of people slip down half way there. It takes the whole night for them to reach the top. No women has ever successfully climbed the wax pole.
